Technical Fowl
CELEBRATE ALL THAT
is good about Down East communities with the
Core
Sound
Waterfowl
Museum on Harkers Island,
Dec. 5-7. Craftsmen, local historians and musicians will all come
together to showcase boat building, net hanging, storytelling, book
signings, traditional music and the community.
“It’s an event that not only educates but entertains,” said
Pam Morris, education director of the Core Sound Waterfowl Museum.
“We want people to learn about our heritage, but we want to make
sure they have plenty of opportunity to experience the traditions
while doing so.”
Guests can see a sampling of the weekend Friday, Dec. 5, when
the outdoor decorating contest brings together the Christmas season
with the Waterfowl Weekend preview party. After grabbing a sneak
peak, grab a bite to eat and enjoy a seafood extravaganza or the
fancy dessert reception. Tickets are required for both events.
The museum will open its doors at 8am Saturday for the free
two-day event, featuring some of the area’s most talented artisans,
cooks and musicians. Visitors will enjoy the education tent and
community exhibits, Down East cooking, as well as kick up their
heels to local musicians. Decide what is fact and what is fiction as
storytellers unwind their colorful tales or see some of the most
talented decoy carvers from Maryland to Georgia present their
collectible wares. At 5pm there will be an auction. Get up early on
Sunday at 8am for a fellowship service and breakfast, or just come
along when the regular doors open at 10am.
Don’t miss an excellent sampling of all the diverse and
wonderful culture Down East has to offer. For more information or
reservations call 252-728-1500 or e-mail
